Membership Categories & Criteria

The Executive Committee created the Membership Sub-Committee in January 2019.

All membership applications are to be approved by APT(S) Membership Sub-Committee and forwarded onto Executive Committee for final approval.

Individual applicants must supply APTS with the following:

Completed application form
-
Certified copies of supporting qualifications and relevant documents
-
Payment of membership fee (only upon approval)
-
Membership fees for a period of two years are due on 1 January or 1 July each year
-
For all new members a one-time administration fee of S$50 will be added to the first fee payment.

CRITERIA FOR EACH CATEGORY
(Fees indicated are for a two year period)
PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISOR MEMBER ($200.00)
-
All members in this level must complete a relevant undergraduate tertiary qualification such as social work, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, education or counselling or other related field.

Current and active member of a local or overseas mental health professional body
-
Members in this level are Registered Play Therapists who have been educated or trained as a Play Therapist and who practice as a Play Therapist at an advanced level from the following tracks:

Association for Play Therapy (Singapore)
-
150 hours of play therapy specific instructions from institutions of higher education or APT(S) Approved Training Providers
-
Demonstrate a minimum of 500 hours of Play Therapy practice with a minimum of 100 hours of simultaneous play therapy supervision by approved APT(S) supervisors

Completed at least 24 hours of play therapy specific supervisor training approved by APT(S)

Play Therapy International (PTI)
-
Completed accredited post-graduate training course at Diploma level
-
Completed approved play therapy supervisor training program

Renewal Criteria (Every two years):

At least 30 hours of APT(S) approved continuous professional development
-
At least 10 hours supervision by APT(S) approved Registered Professional Supervisors
-
At least 100 hours of clinical work, and
-
Receive at least 6 hours of supervisor training every 24 months
PROFESSIONAL MEMBER ($150.00)

All members in this level must complete a relevant undergraduate tertiary qualification such as social work, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, education or counselling or other related field.

Current and active member of a local or overseas mental health professional body
-
Members in this level are Registered Play Therapists who have been educated or trained as a Play Therapist, practise as a Play Therapist and have fulfilled all criteria to work as a Play Therapist from the following tracks:

Association for Play Therapy (Singapore)

150 hours of play therapy specific instructions from institutions of higher education or APT(S) Approved Providers

350 direct client contact hours under supervision and 35 hours of simultaneous play therapy supervision by approved APT(S) supervisors

Play Therapy International (PTI)
-
Completed accredited post-graduate training course at Diploma level

Renewal Criteria (Every two years):

At least 30 hours of APT(S) approved continuous professional development,

PROVISIONAL/STUDENT MEMBER ($120)

This Membership is for individuals who are either:

Enrolled in a training program of study in Play Therapy from institutions of higher education or approved APT(S) Training Providers, or
-
Completed PTI accredited post graduate training course at Certificate level.

All members in this level must have completed a relevant undergraduate tertiary qualification such as social work, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, education, counselling or other related field.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER ($80.00)

This is a Membership for individuals who are interested in supporting the development and advancement of Play Therapy in the Singapore but do not meet Provisional/Student membership requirements.

Associate Members are not allowed to stand for election to be on the Executive Committee

Renewal Criteria (Every two years):

Write a short write up (150-200words) indicating reasons for application.
